Kittinger’s finishes are carefully applied to exacting standards and inspected to master samples. All finishes are shaded to give contrast and depth of color. Closed pore finishes are standard; however, open-pore may also be ordered at no additional charge. Please specify the finish when ordering. If you require a special finish, a sample of the finish must be submitted to Kittinger. After matching your sample, we will submit a strike-off to you for approval. Kittinger’s finish selections include wood stain colors, painted finishes, and wash finishes. Wood samples may be procured from your showroom, representative, or directly from Kittinger Furniture Company.

STANDARD PAINTED FINISHES
Six painted finish colors are a part of the standard Kittinger line. Standard painted finishes, however, will vary due to the unique way in which finishes are applied to each piece.
Antique: The base color is glazed, highlighted, color marred and distressed.
Ancient: Several contrasting base coats are applied, topcoat glazed, highlighted, heavily scraped and physically marred primarily at the molding and at the points that would naturally wear the most.
Crackle: Several contrasting base coats are applied, followed by a special clear lacquer which reacts to produce a rough “cracked” effect which is then glazed, highlighted and distressed.
Available Painted Finishes:

Antiqued Red (AQR)
Antique Lapis (AQL)
Antique Moss (AQM)

Marring and distressing (as defined below) are standard.
Marring: Physical denting, scratching, and gouging of wood using rocks, chains, etc., to establish an antiqued/aged appearance.
Distressing (Cow-tailing and Spattering): Randomly splashing small lines of black paint onto the wood surface to create an antiqued/aged appearance.
Ancient Finishes: LH, CH, DH, OD, CKR, and CK are also available with “ancient treatment” which includes very heavy marring, distressing, antiquing and pin holes. Ancient finishes have open pores; semi-filled pores available on request. Ancient finishes are not available with filled pores. All ancient finishes are dull rubbed.
Ancient Wormy Finishes: wormholes may be added to all finishes.
